Whether you are an exercise veteran or you are new to working out on a regular basis, it can be a good idea to try new types of cardio exercises to avoid boredom or putting too much stress on certain muscles. Here are some of the best types of cardio exercises, and the advantages of each.

Zumba

Zumba has been rising in popularity in the past few years as a unique combination of dance and aerobics, often set to fun music. Zumba is a good workout for weight loss, as it gets your heart rate pumping and works up a sweat, and it also provides a workout for the majority of your bodily muscles.

Swimming

Swimming is a popular form of exercise for many reasons. For instance, it provides an overall full body workout, which is difficult to do with many forms of cardio. Additionally, it has been shown to increase blood flow, as well as not put too much strain on parts of your body that suffer with other types of cardio, such as your knees.

Running

When you think of cardio, one of the first things that comes to mind is running. One of the obvious benefits of running or jogging as a hobby is that it is an opportunity to get outside and enjoy nature, or the local scenery, depending on where you live.

Elliptical Machine

For an amazing cardio workout that will exercise your whole body and does not put stress on your joints, the elliptical machine may be the go-to machine for you in the gym. Many machines come with arm supports that you can move, so you are getting just as much stamina in your arms as in your legs.

Dancing

Similar to Zumba, signing up for a dance class in your area has a myriad of advantages. Dancing has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Additionally, the technical requirements of dance, such as balance, coordination, and flexibility, are all side benefits that will enhance the amount of calories you burn during a class.
