Fitness and health is a vital part of everybody's life. Almost everyone in today's time, indulges or wants to indulge into a fitness routine and start exercising. However, there are a few things that beginners need to take care of.
Exercising can be a great way to improve one's level of fitness and health. If it has been a while since you engaged in an exercise program, it is prudent to start slowly. By acting so, you will be able to reap all benefits of exercising without worrying about overdoing it or causing injury.

Check With Your Doctor

It is a great idea to check with your doctor before embarking on a new exercise program. That is especially true if you are overweight or have any health issues that should be taken into consideration. For instance, if you suffer from high blood pressure or heart disease, your doctor is likely to have some recommendations regarding your exercise program.

Start With Warm-Up

Once you get doctor's approval, start slowly. You should always start with some warm-up exercises, designed to get the body moving and prepare it for more strenuous activity. Doing some warm-up exercises is one of the best ways to avoid pulled muscles and other aches and pains that could result from overdoing your exercise program.

Don't Forget To Stretch

Try doing a few light stretching exercises, or perhaps a more natural, alternative form of the more strenuous activity you plan to engage in. While exercising, it is essential to pay attention to your body. If you feel as though you are exceeding it, chances are you probably are right.

Pain Is Your Friend

"No pain, no gain" might be valid for the seasoned athlete, but when you are just starting, pain could be the first sign that you are about to hurt yourself. Start by doing lower repetitions of exercises, working your way up to higher repetitions. If you sense as though you need to rest, do so.

Stay Hydrated

It is also essential to stay well hydrated while exercising, especially when the weather is hot. Becoming dehydrated can be dangerous. You should also pay attention to your heart rate. Exercise is meant to get your heart pumping, but if your heart rate gets too high, slow down.

Don't Stop And Sit Down

After you are done with your exercise regime, do not just stop and sit down. Instead, cool down by doing a few stretching exercises or other light movements. For example, if you were running, try walking for a while before you stop altogether.
This cool-down period will allow your body to return to its resting state slowly, which is better than an abrupt stop. The more you train, the more you will be able to do. Even though you start slow, you might be surprised how quickly you will be doing more advanced exercises with ease.
