Are you a guy with a double chin or puffed cheeks, which make your face look bloated? Well, in that case, here are some ‘facial exercises for men’ to help you out.
Facial exercises help to brighten up the complexion, relieve tension, and smooth out the wrinkles.
Facial exercises are a great way of safely getting rid of all the excessive fat that has accumulated on your face. In most cases, the areas which appear puffy due to fat deposition happen to be the cheeks and the chin. They not only make your face look older and bloated, but also rob you of your youthfulness, good looks, and natural beauty.
Such people often think of botox or facelifts or other anti-aging skin care products or solutions. However, one of the easiest and natural ways of restoring your face of old (in terms of youthfulness), is by exercising your facial muscles. Now, what could be these ‘exercises for face muscles’, you may ask. Well, read ahead to find out!
Best Facial Workouts for Men and Women
You may have noticed that although this article is supposed to be focused on men, the above heading reads something else. Before you think of it as a typing error or start racking your brains for possible reasons for this inconsistency, allow me to explain. It is not a typing error or a case of inconsistency. In fact, I have intentionally titled the heading the way it is. The reason is, that men’s facial exercises are the same as women’s facial exercises. There is no difference between them whatsoever. Therefore, on that note, here are a few effective facial exercises for both men as well as women.
#1 – Chewing Gum
Let’s start off with something simple―something as simple as chewing a wad of gum. Yes, as primitive as this ‘exercise’ may be, chewing a wad of gum on a regular basis works wonders when it comes to exercising your jaw muscles, and to a certain extent, your cheeks. The best part about this exercise is that you can go about doing it at absolutely any time of the day.
So, regardless of whether you’re working in your office or lazing on the couch in front of the television, just pop a piece of gum into your mouth, and chew all that excess face fat away (literally!).
#2 – Jaw Dropping
This second exercise is pretty basic as well. Sit with your back upright and look straight ahead.
Now, drop your jaw and stretch it downwards as much as you can. Stop at the point where you can’t take it down anymore.
While doing so, you may notice a soft clicking or popping sound originating from the point where your jaw muscles meet (near your ear). Don’t worry about that, it’s perfectly normal. Hold this position for half a second and then bring your jaw back to its resting position.
Repeat this a maximum of 20 times. Once you’re done with this position, tilt your head upwards and focus your eyes on the ceiling. You should feel a slight stretch along your neck muscles. Now, while maintaining this head position, repeat the same ‘jaw dropping’ exercise (pun unintended!) a further 15 times.
#3 – Smiling
This exercise will not only exercise your facial muscles, but will also inculcate in you a good habit; one which all of us should follow more frequently – the habit of smiling. Sit with your back upright and look straight ahead. Now, clench your teeth and smile the widest that you’ve ever smiled.
There you go weirdo! Show off your pearlies! By the way, the best way to go about this exercise is to face a mirror and do it. Stretch your cheek muscles away from each other and smile away! Do this in 2 sets of 10 repetitions (or 1 set of 20). After you’re done with this position, tilt your head upwards (similar to the earlier exercise) and do another set.
#4 – Puffing Face
This particular exercise works on your cheeks as well as lips. Sit upright, look straight ahead, close your mouth, and clench your teeth. Now, fill your mouth with as much air as you can. You should feel your cheeks getting stretched.
Now, alternate this air from the left cheek to the right.
Do this 20 times. Relax for a few seconds and repeat it once again (20 times).
Another variant of this exercise is as follows: Close your mouth, clench your teeth, and fill your mouth with air. Now, move this volume of air around in your mouth in the following sequence: left cheek–>upper lip–>right cheek–>lower lip. Repeat this 20 times. Relax for a few seconds and then do another set.
#5 – Puckering Lips
This exercise is quite simple as well. Close your mouth, pucker your lips.
Suck your left cheek in. Hold it in at the innermost point for half a second and then let go. Repeat this 20 times.
Once you’re done with the left cheek, perform the same for your right cheek (20 times). After you’re done with the right cheek, perform this exercise for both cheeks simultaneously (20 times).
#6 – Baby Bird
To do this simple facial yoga, turn your head towards right. Then tilt your chin up and press the tip of your tongue to the roof of the mouth. This will be your starting position. Now, smile and then swallow. After you are done with the right side, repeat for center and the left side as well. Repeat 10 times.
#7 – Temple Dancer
To perform temple dancer exercise, keep your face motionless except for widening your eyes more than usual. Now, gradually look towards left, hold for a second or two, then look back to the center, then look back towards the right, then again in the center. Repeat 10 times.
These were a few easy-to-do facial exercises. Go about doing them regularly, and you will soon have your youthful face back!
