Clearly Define Your Goals
Going into your plan blind can cause you to lose focus and forget what you’re doing all this work for. Before you get started, jot down the why, what, and how of your fitness journey.
What do you want to accomplish to make your life different?
Why do you want to add fitness to your life?
How are you going to make it a part of your everyday routine?
With these questions answers, you’ll have a clear goal and plan for reaching it.
Start Small, Then Go Big
There’s no need to run a marathon on the first day of your routine. Start small.
Lots of fitness instructors suggest starting with 30 minutes of activity three days a week. Once you get into the swing of that, they suggest upping either the number of days or the number of minutes.
Of course, this is all about what you feel. If you want to do more, do it! But make sure you have a habit of at least a few days a week going.
Get A Group Together
Fitness might seem like a solo sport, but there’s a lot of strength in numbers. Having a group of people you work out or track progress with can help you stay the path.
Find a few workout buddies to do activities with. Or start a Facebook group where you all share about your progress and ideas for diets and workouts.
Having a support system can make all the difference when it comes to meeting your goals.
Find A Workout You Like
If you hate running, you’re not going to be excited about doing it 30 minutes a day. Sure, working out isn’t inherently enjoyable; it’s a lot of work. But there are a ton of activities out there for you to choose from, so find something that gets you excited.
Some people love to hop on a spin bike while others enjoy dancing it out. Find what gets you in the groove and try to do that.
Consistency is Key
Don’t worry about going hard for an hour or more. Just make sure you stick to your schedule. Whether it’s an hour three days a week or 30-minutes six times a week, commit yourself. From there, any little bit of activity is doing your body good.
We all have our good and bad days when it comes to working out, especially when starting a new routine. But having a plan in place can help you through it at the beginning!
