Insanity workout is based on cardio and complete body conditioning. Developed by Shaun T, or Shaun Thompson, it is believed to be the toughest workout program.
The weight loss market is growing day-by-day with the growing demand for fitness and perfect looking bodies. There is a new fitness product launched every few months. The problems of obesity make it a necessity to shed those extra kilos and get back in shape.
However, in some cases, the thought of losing weight has surmounted the levels of sanity. It does not come as a surprise then, that there is a workout program called Insanity. Insanity has been around for quite some time now. The total duration of this workout is 60 days.
What is it all About?
This program has been devised by Shaun T, a fitness expert, with the help of Beachbody. It is a vigorous workout, which, according to the claims, can transform you from fat to fit. It is an interval training program which gets really intense as it progresses. It is a total body conditioning program, and is cardio based. It is believed to be one of the most extreme and difficult workouts released on DVD.
The genesis of the program lies in Shaun T’s collegiate track and field training, and his experience as an elite trainer. This fitness regime is greatly compared with the P90X workout by Tony Horton. While it is said that the P90X is the height of resistance training, Insanity workout gets you at the helm of max interval training.
Schedule of the Program
At the core, Insanity involves non stop interval training. It covers strength, power, resistance, abs, and core. It comprises longer bursts of high intensity exercises, along with smaller rest periods. There is also nutritional guidance in this program. There are no hard core restrictions on eating. You only have to maintain a balanced diet. It is advisable to have 5 smaller meals instead of 3 big ones.
The schedule of the program is as follows-
- Fitness Test
- Plyometric Cardio Circuit
- Cardio Power & Resistance (will help build lean muscle and a toned upper-body)
- Cardio Recovery
- Pure Cardio and Ab Exercises
- Cardio Abs, having explosive intervals of core moves and cardio, for hard and wash board abs
- Core cardiovascular exercises and balance exercises as a break, after a grueling first month of the workout program
- Maximum interval circuit
- Maximum intensity plyometrics
- Extreme cardio workout
All this is included in the program schedule. The details and the distribution of the workouts and exercise segments are included in the Insanity workout DVD. There will also be a workout program calendar with the whole package.
Reviews
Reviews say that only if you are in top health condition should you should think of going for this workout. It has a lesser duration than P90X, which is based on resistance training, but it drains a huge amount of energy due to the speed and intensity of the workout.
Whether the insanity program works or not depends on every individual’s approach. If he or she gives total attention to it and religiously follows the program, it can happen. But there is one important thing, obese or overweight people should avoid this, unless they seek guidance from their doctor.
